Sandor Clegane is King Joffrey’s personal body guard. He is a member of House Clegane and is frequently referred to as “The Hound” or “Dog” by Joffrey. This nickname comes from his violent nature and unquestioning obedience to his masters as well as the three dogs featured on his family’s crest. His older brother Sir Gregor “The Mountain” Clegane is considered one of the most dangerous men in Westeros. He is the banner man of Tywin Lannister. In his youth, Sandor was brutally burned on his face when Gregor shoved his face into a brazier for playing with one of his toys. Ever since, Sandor loathes fire, his older brother, and the falseness of knighthood.
Sandor is a large man. He has horrible scars on the right side of his face from the burn accidents he experienced as a child. He wears plain, dark armor and a fierce helm with the shape of a growling dog. He is truly a fierce warrior – a man who I would not like to cross paths with under the wrong circumstances. However, I do question his loyalty to the Lannisters. I believe that he has become disillusioned with the family that took him in after his father’s death. He has taken Sansa under his wing; although he serves Joffrey, he does not appreciate of approve of the way he torments the poor girl.
